My beloveds say
in a past life

we were
sweet nothings.

In my
utopian dreams
fallen angels tint
rose hallucinated
maladaptive whispers.

A voice withers
in my ears saying –

We were soulmates.

Who is holding
the illicit truth?

Living souls?
or the lost cherubs?

My inner temple
tells me,

in every life
we plant tulips
for one another.
